USA Today SportsEli Manning and Andrew Luck face off on "Monday Night Football" (8:30 ET, ESPN).
The Colts are looking for their first Monday night win since 2010, when Peyton Manning was still under center for Indianapolis, while Eli Manning is looking for his first career win against the Colts.
Here are the top stats to know heading into the game.
Eli Manning
This will be Manning’s 159th start as a member of the Giants, tying him with Phil Simms for the most by a Giant since 1970. All of his starts have come under coach Tom Coughlin, and tonight’s game will give them the third-most starts by a quarterback/coach combo in NFL history, passing Terry Bradshaw and Chuck Noll.
After finishing 32nd out of 37 qualifying quarterbacks with a 36.5 Total QBR last season, Manning is fourth in the NFL with a 78.4 Total QBR. A big reason for that is a reduction in interceptions.
Manning led the league and set a career high last season with 27 picks, throwing one on 4.9 percent of his pass attempts, also most in the league. This season, he has cut that rate by more than half, throwing an interception on 2.2 percent of attempts, which is below league average.
Manning’s decrease in interceptions is partially a result of making more conservative throws. Last season, he led the league with an average pass length of 9.5 yards. This season, his average pass is traveling 7.6 yards past the line of scrimmage, which ranks 23rd out of 33 qualified quarterbacks.
Andrew Luck
Luck enters tonight’s game leading the league in passing yards with 2,731. He can join Tom Brady, Drew Brees (twice) and Peyton Manning as the only players in NFL history with at least 3,000 passing yards in their team’s first nine games to begin a season.
Luck had his second career 400-yard passing game last week at Pittsburgh, and in doing so, he set a Colts franchise record with his sixth consecutive 300-yard passing game.
With another 300-yard game Monday, Luck can join Brees (twice) and Peyton Manning as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to do it in seven or more consecutive games.
