The only face-to-face appearance of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao before fight week is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET Wednesday at the news conference advancing the highly anticipated and long-awaited matchup. 

In ESPN’s pound-for-pound rankings, Mayweather is No. 1 and Pacquiao is No. 2. 

Mayweather, a two-time fighter of the year (2007, 2013), has won world titles in five weight classes -- one of five fighters to do so. He has a record of 47-0 with 26 knockouts. Twenty-four of those victories have come in world title fights.

Pacquiao is regarded as the second-best fighter in the world. He is a three-time fighter of the year (2006, 2008, 2009) and has won world titles in eight weight classes. His record is 57-5-2 (38 knockouts), including 18-3-2 in world title fights. 

The news conference at Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live in Los Angeles will be the first public meeting since their brief encounter at the Bucks-Heat NBA game on Jan. 27. 

  

Bettors increasingly favor Pacquiao 
The Westgate Las Vegas Superbook has Mayweather as a minus-200 favorite (lay $200 to win $100). Pacquiao is a plus-175 underdog. 

On Jan. 14, before the fight was announced, Mayweather was a minus-350 favorite (an implied 75 percent win probability), and the line has steadily moved in Pacquiao’s favor since then. 

A who’s who 
Along with the fighters, some of the key figures who are expected to be at the news conference: 

• Freddie Roach (Pacquiao's trainer): seven-time Boxing Writers Association of America trainer of the year, Pacquiao’s trainer since 2001 
• Leonard Ellerbe (Mayweather Promotions CEO, Mayweather’s promoter): has been a part of Mayweather’s camp since his pro debut in 1996 
• Bob Arum (Top Rank CEO, Pacquiao's promoter): in charge of Top Rank, which promotes Pacquiao and used to promote Mayweather 
• Al Haymon (Mayweather's adviser): four-time BWAA manager of the year but never speaks with media members. 
• Stephen Espinoza (Showtime executive vice president and general manager of Showtime Sports): in charge of all boxing events related to Showtime Sports; Mayweather has an exclusive contract to fight for Showtime. 
• Ken Hershman (HBO Sports president): in charge of all boxing events related to HBO Sports; Pacquiao has an exclusive contract to fight for HBO. 
• Richard Sturm (president of MGM Resorts): The May 2 Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will be at the MGM Grand. 

Tickets have not gone on sale for the fight, but according to Forbes, they are expected to start at a minimum of $1,000. Ringside seats are expected to have a face value of $5,000, and they might not be available to the general public. 

The event is expected to double the largest boxing gate in Nevada State Athletic Commission history, set in 2013 when the Mayweather-Saul Alvarez fight garnered $20 million in live gate sales. There will be no complimentary tickets given to celebrities and dignitaries, according to reports. 

Top Rank promoter Arum has offered one complimentary ticket: to MMA superstar Ronda Rousey.

Westbrook's run historic; is it overrated?

Over his last six games, Russell Westbrook has five triple-doubles, and over the past month, he has accomplished many feats not seen in the NBA for a long time. Westbrook looks to continue his torrid streak Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers (8 p.m. ET, ESPN). We take a look at how he's done it and if it has been good for the Thunder. 

Historical perspective 
Westbrook's recent run has put him in the company of a number of NBA greats. Some of the more notable recent accomplishments: 

On Feb. 27 against the Trail Blazers, Westbrook finished a historic February, joining Oscar Robertson as the only players in NBA history to average 30 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds in a calendar month. 

On March 4 against the Philadelphia 76ers, Westbrook became the third player in NBA history with back-to-back 40-point triple-doubles (Michael Jordan and Pete Maravich). 

On Thursday against the Chicago Bulls, Westbrook became the fourth player in NBA history with 40 points, five rebounds and five assists in three straight games (Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain and Jordan). 

And most recently, Sunday against the Toronto Raptors, Westbrook became the second player over the last 50 years to average 33 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists over any 10-game span (Jordan). 

How is he doing it? 
Over his last 10 games, nearly two-thirds of Westbrook’s possessions have come in transition or on pick-and-roll plays (36 percent transition, 30 percent pick-and-roll). 

In that time, Westbrook is averaging 10.0 fast-break points per game, by far the most in the NBA (Stephen Curry is second at 7.2 per game). In fact, he's scored more fast-break points per game than three teams. 

Westbrook isn't just scoring -- he's also creating points for teammates. This season, Westbrook leads the NBA with an average of 46.1 points created per game (combining points off assists and points scored). Since Feb. 1, he is averaging 56.1 points created per game, nearly nine more than the next-closest player, Wednesday night's opponent Chris Paul (47.2). 

Over his last 10 games, Westbrook is averaging 24.4 points created on his assists alone. He is doing it by keeping it balanced across different areas of the court. He has 18 assists to the left or left-center, 76 to the middle, and 18 on the right or right-center. 

The biggest beneficiary has been Serge Ibaka, who is averaging 8.8 points per game off Westbrook’s assists, and that doesn’t include free throws awarded after he has drawn a foul after a pass by Westbrook. Anthony Morrow is benefiting from beyond the arc: Of the 20 3-pointers Westbrook has assisted on, eight have been by Morrow. 

Over the entire season, Westbrook is averaging an NBA-high 46.1 points created. Second is James Harden (44.6). 

Is it helping the Thunder? 
Although Westbrook's stats have been impressive, especially over his last six games, some of the underlying numbers have not been as great. 

He’s shooting 42 percent from the field over that span and has been under 50 percent in all six games; he’s shooting 26 percent from the 3-point line. 

His effective field goal percentage (which takes into account the increased value of 3-pointers) is 44 percent, which would rank as the sixth-worst in the NBA over the entire season. 

Four of the six games have come against teams with winning records. The Thunder are 1-3 in those four games and 2-4 overall. 

He has at least four turnovers in each of the six games; that’s tied for the second-longest streak in the NBA this season (tied with a streak of his own from earlier in the season). 

Before these six games, Oklahoma City led New Orleans by two games for the No. 8 playoff seed in the Western Conference. The teams are tied (although the Thunder lead by percentage points). 

With Westbrook on the court over these six games, the Thunder have been outscored by 24 points. With Westbrook off the court over these six games, the Thunder have outscored their opponents by 36 points.

Graham's acquisition will have major impact on Seahawks

The marquee offensive move on the first day of free agency was a trade, rather than a signing. The Seattle Seahawks dealt center Max Unger and a first-round pick to the New Orleans Saintsfor star tight end Jimmy Graham and a fourth-round pick. 

The swap dramatically changes both teams, and its most tangible impact will be on the Seahawks' passing game.

Jimmy Graham has the most receiving yards (4,752) of any tight end in his first five seasons in NFL history.

Graham and Rob Gronkowski are the only tight ends in NFL history with multiple seasons of 1,000 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. 

Graham is coming off four straight seasons with at least 800 receiving yards. The Seahawks have never had a tight end with more than 627 yards receiving in a season (John Carlson, 2008). Seahawks tight ends combined for 48 receptions in the 2014 season, sixth-fewest in the NFL. Seattle's 205 receptions by tight ends over the past four seasons ranks last in the NFL. 

Despite that, Russell Wilson has a Total QBR of 89.8 when targeting tight ends in his career, which is ninth in the NFL the past three seasons. 

A versatile option 

Jimmy Graham had 67 receptions, 709 yards and 10 touchdowns when split out wide the past season. The 67 receptions were the most by a tight end in the NFL. 

The Seahawks had a total of 10 receptions from their tight ends in that situation. 

Doug Baldwin led all Seahawks wide receivers with 66 receptions, 825 yards and three touchdowns the past season. 

Effective in the red zone 

Over the past four seasons, Jimmy Graham has 50 receptions on plays in the red zone. That's the same number of red zone receptions as all Seahawks tight ends combined over the past eight years. 

If the Seahawks had Graham in the Super Bowl, throwing to him at the 1-yard line might not have been criticized so much. Graham has been targeted from the 1-yard line nine times in his career. Eight of those targets resulted in touchdowns.

One perk for Graham in going to the Seahawks is he no longer has to play the Seahawks. Graham has nine receptions on 23 career targets against the Seahawks (39 percent). 

In his most recent game against Seattle (2013 Divisional Playoffs), Graham had one reception for eight yards on six targets. 

After the game, Michael Bennett said, “If he doesn't get a chance to get the ball, that's all he can do. He doesn't help in the blocking game. I think he's overrated, and I'm not afraid to say it on TV.”

McIlroy's standing heading into Masters

When the Masters begins in less than a month, Rory McIlroy will try to become just the fourth player ever to win three consecutive majors, and just the sixth player in the Masters era (since 1934) to complete the career grand slam. 

So what’s the state of McIlroy’s game as he prepares to head to Augusta with a shot at history? 

Shaky in the States 
McIlroy began 2015 in Dubai, where he looked like the same player who won two majors and was named PGA TOUR Player of the Year in 2014. 

In eight stroke-play rounds (all under par) in Dubai, he was a cumulative 40 under par and posted a scoring average of 67.0.

But in six rounds (two weeks) of PGA TOUR play in the United States, it’s been a different story -- just one round under par and a cumulative score of six over par. 

His missed cut at The Honda Classic marked the first time in his PGA TOUR career that he’s missed the cut in his first start of a season, and it’s the first time since 2011 that he’s cumulatively over par after his first two stroke-play PGA TOUR events. 

Par 5s 
The biggest difference between McIlroy’s play in Dubai and the United States has been his performance on the par 5s. In Dubai, McIlroy played 32 total par 5s (four per round), and recorded 19 birdies and 0 bogeys on those holes (4.41 scoring average, 59 percent conversion rate). 

On the PGA TOUR, he’s played 20 total par 5s, making seven birdies and an eagle (4.70 scoring average, 40 percent conversion rate). 

After tying for fifth on the PGA TOUR last season in par 5 scoring average, McIlroy’s current scoring average on those holes (in an admittedly small sample) would rank tied for 150th on the TOUR if he had enough rounds to qualify for a ranking. 

Iron Play 
The other factor in McIlroy’s scuffles early in the PGA TOUR season has been his iron play. In 2014, he capitalized on long, accurate driving by posting the TOUR’s sixth-best proximity to the hole on approach shots struck from the fairway. He was tied for 113th in approach shot accuracy on shots hit from the rough. 

So far this year, he’s hitting fewer fairways than he did a season ago (55 percent compared to 60 percent), but even when he’s playing from the short grass this season, he ranks just 190th in approach shot proximity. 

McIlroy has committed to play the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in two weeks, a par-72 layout that will give him plenty of chances to polish up his form on the par 5s. 

With a missed cut and a T-9th so far this season, it’s worth mentioning that McIlroy has never won a major without posting at least one top-five finish on the PGA TOUR earlier in the season.

Jets secondary poised for major turnaround

The New York Jets dramatically changed the look of their secondary with a pair of free-agent signings. 

The big one is the return of cornerback Darrelle Revis, who reportedly agreed to a deal for $39 million guaranteed. The other is also noteworthy -- the signing of Cleveland Browns cornerbackBuster Skrine.

Skrine had 14 passes defended or intercepted last season. Revis had 12 on the way to winning a Super Bowl. 

The Jets didn’t have a player record double-digit pass disruptions in 2014. They ranked 25th in the NFL in that stat. Players who lined up at cornerback had only two interceptions for them last season, tied for the fewest in the league. 

The Jets also ranked last in the NFL in turnovers forced with 13 and allowed a league-high 14 touchdown passes to tight ends. 

Bad without Revis, great with him 
The Jets allowed 31 touchdowns and intercepted only six passes last season. They had the third-worst touchdown-to-interception ratio allowed in a season in NFL history. 

With Revis, the Jets pass defense was terrific. They allowed the lowest completion percentage (56 percent) and the second-fewest touchdowns (108) of any team from 2007 to 2012. 

Did You Know? 
Five players have multiple interceptions against Tom Brady over the past eight seasons. Revis, who spent last season as Brady’s teammate, is one of them. 

The Elias Sports Bureau notes that Revis is moving on after starting and winning the Super Bowl in his only season with the Patriots. According to Elias, the most recent players to start and win the Super Bowl in the only season in which they played a game for that team were Sean McHugh and Darnell Stapleton for the 2008 Steelers.
